FREE copyright training for ALCC members
The Australian Libraries Copyright Committee is the primary policy body for the discussion of copyright issues affecting Australian libraries, with major members comprising the Australian Library & Information Association (ALIA), National and State Libraries Australasia (NSLA), Council of University Librarians (CAUL) and National Library of Australia (NLA)

Follows on from last year’s ALCC training, and will contain a quick refresher/introduction to the copyright basics, and moves forward to demystify copyright law for librarians looking to promote collections online, and help staff develop risk management guidelines for using copyright works.

This year’s training aims to demystify copyright law for librarians looking to promote collections online, and help staff develop risk management guidelines for using copyright works. We’ll be looking at copyright law and digitisation of library material, using social media platforms like Pinterest, Tumblr, Flickr, Facebook and Twitter, new digital history tools. We’ll then move on to have a look at the recent reforms and influences on copyright law, and try and get some sense of what libraries and copyright might look like in the future.

2:30pm Part 2 – Where to from here?
What will copyright look like tomorrow? This session will look at some of the challenges copyright is facing in the digital age, and some of the influences proposals for change. It’ll cover the ALRC Copyright in the Digital Economy , the Trans-Pacific Partnership Agreement (TPP), World Intellectual Property Organisations discussions on exceptions for libraries and archives, e-book lending, digital rights management and digital libraries.
