Associations and institutions are welcome to apply to become members of the ALCC.
The ALCC has made a joint submission with the ADA to the Review of Copyright Regulations 1969.
The Copyright Regulations are set to sunset in 2018, and so have to be renewed entirely. The significant changes in the exposure draft released by the government include simplifications to the Copyright Tribunal procedures; clarification of code requirements under the safe harbour scheme; and long overdue new exceptions to the ban on circumventing access-control TPMs.
The ALCC/ADA submission focuses primarily on the TPM provisions, applauding the new exceptions for disability access, library use, students and researchers using fair dealing and schools working within the statutory licence or section 200AB, but petitioning for an additional TPM exceptions for libraries and archives working under section 200AB, and others using fair dealings.
